With the global financial outlook looking decidedly unsteady, we could be seeing the dawn of a new era of layoffs.

There are signs that may help to predict if your job is likely to disappear, Of course the most obvious of these are that your company is sold, or a redundancy program is announced. But other more subtle signs include cuts to your pay or benefits and not being invited to meetings, being shut out of the loop.

Being made redundant with little warning is likely to leave you feeling a mix of emotions that would include shock, disbelief, low self-worth and anger. Men tend not to cope as well as women. They are particularly prone to low self-esteem and pessimism. Many will end up believing that they will never work again. There is no doubt that job loss is a traumatic experience. Indeed, for some, it might even be as painful as the loss of a loved one. There is also a lot of research now telling us that redundancy can harm your health, affect your life expectancy, and trigger psychiatric issues.

Losing your job can be one of the most dislocating and confronting experiences of your life. It can be hard knowing what to do next.

The good news is that, even though redundancy can be traumatic, it’s also an opportunity for a fresh start. This book will help you navigate your way through redundancy and come out the other end in a better space than you were before. It’s a step by step guide showing you how to manage it and find work again. You might end up saying that redundancy was the best thing that ever happened to you. This book will show you how.
