Jobs bonanza at Domino’s
Domino’s Pizza is to open up to 30 new stores in Australia on the back of strong sales growth in the first four months of this year.
The store openings in the next six months would create more than 2500 jobs, chief executive Don Meij said.
The expansion comes as Mr Meij’s contract has been renewed for the next five years. He will be paid a total salary package of $856,492 this year, including
bonus, long-term incentives and options – down from $933,630 last year. His basic salary has risen from $529,521 last year to $571,822 this year.
The company, which reported same-store sales growth of 10.3 per cent for the first four months of this year, said its chain of 474 pizza stores across Australia had a shortage of delivery drivers and pizza makers.
Its strategy of introducing strong promotions over the past few months and the use of new technology and mobile phones have helped to attract new customers, Mr Meij said.
“This has given us the confidence to boost our presence across Australia by opening more stores in metro and regional areas,” he said.
Domino’s would also open up to 10 new stores across its portfolio in New Zealand, France, Belgium and The Netherlands.
