Blame gamer ‘most irritating co-worker’

People who duck for cover instead of taking responsibility for their own actions are the most reviled co-worker in the world.

The blame gamer was nominated as the most irritating co-worker by 78 percent of a massive 17,000 people surveyed by LinkedIn across 16 countries including 1100 Aussie workers.

The second most irritating co-worker varies depending on where you live in the world.

For Aussies and Germans, people who leave common areas in a mess are the clear number two. Microwaves with gunk stuck to the top, dirty dishes in the sink and a stinky fridge make us see red.

In third place for Aussies was the constant complainer. During his visit to Australia last week, UK corporate coach Marcus Child told a seminar that a workplace needs five positive people to counter the impact of one toxic negative person. Australians also find people who turn up late for meetings more irritating that any other nationality.

For Americans, the fridge food thief is the second most disliked office rodent while for Brazilians it is the office gossip. In India, the owners of mobile phones with irritating ringtones are their number two and in Japan, it is the office prankster.

The survey results showed men and women have different ideas about the people who ticked them off at work. For 61 percent of the Australian women surveyed co workers dressed in “clothing that’s too revealing for the workplace” were particularly irritating while only 23 per cent of Aussie men were irked by colleagues who reveal too much.
