History - Celebrating 90 years in 2022

J.J. Richards was established by Joseph John Richards, who won his first sanitary and waste collection contract in 1932.

Now known as JJ’s Waste & Recycling, we are pioneers in the waste industry with a number of world-firsts introduced throughout our 90-year history.

From the first-ever automated side loading vehicle in the 1980s, to our involvement in trials of emerging technology. We are excited to continue to innovate and change the ways of the industry into the future.
